About our Community

Cumberland is a rural village with a long history dating back to 1799. We are located east of Ottawa, between Orleans and Rockland. In 2001, the village was amalgamated into the City of Ottawa.

Cumberland has approximately 2,000 residents. Our community is comprised of a main street with many heritage homes in the historic Cumberland Village district, surrounded by farms and country lot subdivisions. The region boasts unique natural beauty, located along the Ottawa River, with rolling hills and mature forests. Attractions include the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, a vibrant community-run farmers’ market operating from June to October, plus a community centre and rink.
